Dr Edwin Liyombo is an ENT Consultant / Surgeon at the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH). He received his medical degree and his Masters in Otolaryngology from Muhimbili University of Allied Health Sciences. He also did his Clinical fellowship in Endoscopic Rhinology and Micro ear Surgery in India. He is a registered ENT Consultant with the Tanganyika Medical Council and has over 8 years of working experience as an ENT Specialist. He is also the President of the Tanzania ENT Society and the Head of the ORL Department at MNH. His clinical interest include Endoscopic Rhinology and Micro Ear Surgery. Being one of the founders of the Cochlear Implant Group of Tanzania (CIGT), Dr. Liyombo is keen to develop a local Cochlear Implant Program in Tanzania in collaboration with MEDEL (One of the Major Cochlear Implant producers) and HearWell Audiology Clinic (The Authorised Distributor of MEDEL in Tanzania). He attends various trainings in the CI field in different parts of the world.
Dr. Naufal K. Mohammed is an ENT Consultant / Surgeon at the Mnazimmoja Hospital in Zanzibar. He obtained his First degree in Medicine from Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University. He later on acquired his Master of Medicine with specialisation in Ear, Nose and Throat from the University of Nairobi in 2006. Dr. Kassam is part of various projects in Zanzibar including The Zanzibar Outreach Program (ZOP) and the Primary Ear and Hearing care project. Being one of the founders of the Cochlear Implant Group of Tanzania (CIGT), he is keen on developing a local CI program for which he attends various trainings in the field organised by MEDEL. Dr. Kassam is also keen to establish a Rehabilitation program for the Hearing impaired in Zanzibar. He brings a wealth of experience from the years of service in the field to TENTS and CIGT.
Fayaz Jaffer is the founder of the First Private Audiology and Speech Therapy Clinic in Tanzania, HearWell Audiology Clinic. He is a Cochlear Implants Consultant and Hearing Instruments Specialist (HIS) and has undergone various trainings in the field in UK and other parts of Europe. He is also one of the founders of the Cochlear Implant Group of Tanzania (CIGT). His area of practise include CI Support, Audiological Evaluations, Hearing Aid Fitting, Evoked Potential and EarMold production. He is very motivated and determined to enhance Audiology practise in the country with focus on Early Intervention. His ambition is to develop training programs in Audiology so that the services are available to a wider population around the country. Apart from this, he is currently working closely with Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam and Mnazimmoja Hospital in Zanzibar to develop a Local Cochlear Implant Program.
Rashida Gulamali is an Audiologist and a Speech Language Pathologist at HearWell Audiology Clinic. She is one of the very few professionals who has qualification in both fields. Her area of practise includes Audiological Evaluations and Rehabilitation of Cochlear Implant Patients. She is also undergoing trainings to become a trainer in field of Speech and Language Pathology which is aimed at training other professionals in field of Speech Pathology.
Dr. Henry Swai is an ENT Consultant / Surgeon at Muhimbili National Hospital. He received his Medical Degree from The University of Dar es Salaam and completed his Otorhinolaryngology residency at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. He is a certified ENT Surgeon by the Medical Council of Tanganyika. He is stationed at Muhimbili National Hospital, an Honorary lecturer at the MUHAS and a visiting lecturer at University of Dodoma and IMTU. His clinical interest is Head and Neck malignancy.
